The REALLY Bad: Absolutely shocked to see the 40lb bag raise in price AGAIN. the following are pre tax/shipping prices from my previous orders:
    Nov 8/ $31.84
    Dec 10/ $35.71
    Dec 31/ $40.05

Now here we are Jan 23 and it’s listed at $54.45? No matter how good the litter is that price point is insane.

The Good: Love this litter. Love that it’s still available in a large format (40lb) bag. Dust levels are reasonable and tracking is low.

The Bad: If what I’ve read is correct, the product has been completely discontinued by Purina in favour of their highly inferior Lightweight brand.

I usually order Tidy Cat unscented which amazon doesn’t sell anymore. I was in a hurry and needed cat litter so I ordered this.
1). The SMELL is too strong. My cat hates it and when he comes out he smells like Tide laundry detergent and it makes me cough and get a headache.
2). Packaging is awful. It’s literally a box. You have two options. Either take the whole thing apart and scoop it into the box or lift the box and slowly pour the litter in. Let’s just say it was a disaster.

So yeah, it’s cat litter and it works but smells. Wish they made that more clear for people who want a light smell or no smell at all.

If you’re going to put 99% dust free then it had better be 99% dust free! Like many of you out there with Cats you want the best products that you can get for them. Litter is very important and can seriously effect your pets health more often than not on the negative side. This claim made by different producers of Cat Litter is really ridiculous. Here are a few examples : Purina Tidy Cats Litter, 99% Dust Free, 18.1 Kg. $37.99—Arm and Hammer Litter, 100% Dust Free, 13.6 Kg. 50% Lighter which actually means 50% less. $25.99— Then we have Costco, Cat Litter, 99% Dust Free, 22.7 Kg. $9.99. I mean really! I almost choke to death just cleaning the litter boxes, never mind our poor darling pets that actually have to get into this stuff and shake it all around when done. I just think it is a darn shame that so many customers are putting so much money in the coffers’ of these huge conglomerates and we still can’t get a litter that is not harmful to our pets.I have one Kitty, her name is Kitkat and next week she will have surgery to remove her right eye and pray that we can save the left one. My Vet swears that this blasted litter that we are all using, no matter what brand, scented or unscented is just not healthy…. Sounding Off!!

I had accumulated a large sum of paint cans over the years, so I purchased this 40 pound bag of cat litter to harden the old paint. This cat litter worked great to harden the old paint so that I can properly dispose of it. Cat litter works the same way as paint hardener products, but is more cost efficient.

To harden the paint properly, I did the following:
    1. Add about an equal amount of cat litter to the paint.
    2. Use a paint stir stick and stir the cat litter in well. With a 5-gallon bucket, I used a piece of 2×2 lumber to push the cat litter to the bottom of the bucket and then gave it a stir.
    3. Allow it to absorb the paint and harden, preferably outside in the sunlight.

With one 40 pound bag of cat litter, I was able to harden 13 gallon cans of paint that were less than half full and two 5-gallon buckets of paint that were also approximately half full. I would have posted a picture, but that option does not seem to be available anymore on reviews.

For people buying this for cats, it does have a nice scent.

At first I was impressed with this litter’s excellent clumping, but it only gets hard after a while. scooping right after
my boy used it to pee and the ball collapsed into a sticky goo mess. I had to wash my so called non stick scoop. Anyway. The perfume is way too strong, This litter is so DUSTY That I am throwing out nearly half of this bag and going back to Arm and Hammer Cloud Control. Spend the extra money. Its not worth breathing in this fine powder to save money. I save by cooking chicken for them instead of buying cans of food. I leave out HALO dry kibble to insure they get their proper nutrition. Every time I snuggled my cat, I got a burning skin rash. He had litter dust on his fur.

Best litter. I have 4 cats and I like how this litter isn’t dusty. The only issue I have is that this is the only way I can order the regular Tidy Cat. I usually buy it in Buffalo but because of Covid we can not travel. It is not available in Canada. Only the light weight Tidy Cat and that litter is horrible. It makes the litter box smell so bad. The regular Tidy Cat doesn’t do that.

What a difference changing litter makes! I am new to cat ownership, and was really questioning my recent rescue of 4 kittens. This has been a game changer. I had to wait until they were old enough to switch to clumping litter, and once I did, I found tidy cats. It scoops so easy for urine and poo. And it really does absorb the odor. I’m a self proclaimed neat freak and I detest smelly smells. Since finding this litter, we’ve decided to adopt all 4 of these babies instead of just fostering them. It made THAT much of a difference in the smell and effort to clean up after them. Thanks tidy cats. This little litter of misfits thanks you too. They’re on to live their best life, smelly cat free!

THE BAGS NEVER ARRIVED AMAZON said they were ALL DAMAGED!! I have used this product for over 15 years as Tidy Cat ( originally I used MAXX Cat for 6 years which turned into Tidy Cat ). This litter ( and all ORIGINAL brands) is no longer being made by Purina because they have switched everything to the Lightweight formula ( more dusty and gets carried throughout the house on the cats paws – I don’t like it as much ). It was pricey but I really PREFER the original product !! It is an excellent cat litter. I wish companies would not FIX things that do not need fixing!

I’ve used the Tidy Cats brand for years, but the formula I was using just wasn’t working as well for me as I’d like. After stumbling across this Tidy Max 24/7 Performance formula on Amazon I decided to just give it a try to see if it would work any better. I changed the litter to this a week ago, and I love it. I forget there is even a litter box in this house, and this is not a big house so if something smells you can smell it pretty much everywhere. It doesn’t just try to cover the smell (which, face it, that never works) with a new smell; it actually prevents/stops the smell entirely from the get-go. Does exactly what it says it’ll do.
If you’re considering this product — it is definitely worth a try! I’m not disappointed, and I will be buying it again.

Changing updating my review! before I had a glowing review on this, but I realized after using this and seeing my cat sneeze more that this is still way to dusty!! & fragranced, When tidy had what they called there “premium” lineup a few years back with Breathe easy, Small spaces & power blend they were more focused on the dust control and they were better all around & they need to return to that!

I use Amazon for most of my household purchases because nothing beats just whipping out your phone when you run out of something, but I had to change a few of my go-to items to stuff Amazon carries. It took me quite a few tries to find a kitty litter that worked for us. This is now my monthly purchase.
The biggest plus for me is the scent. I have two cats in a small, two bedroom apartment and it’s very easy for the place to start smelling like litter box. This stuff has a nice scent, without being overwhelming. Some brands overload on a scent, and then when your cats curl up on you after using the litter box, they reek of overly sweet diaper smell. This litter doesn’t do that. The bathroom their litter box is in slightly smells of the scent, but that’s it. Plus, this litter is nice and chunky, so it doesn’t fly up like a dust when they use it – I think that’s why they don’t get covered in the smell.
And you can’t really beat the price. Highly recommend!

I got hooked on this Tidy Cats Max Performance litter when it was on a big sale. Previously I had used store brand scented litter in 14 lb jugs. First time I used the Tidy Cats litter, the advantage was obvious, biggest difference being odor control. One litter box fill lasts at least twice as long as the store brand stuff, so the extra cost over store brand is more than made up by how long it lasts, I think the word is “value”?

The problem is the huge, heavy, unmanageable box! As many others have commented, the box needs a handle of some sort, some way to pick it up. I’m a 6 foot 260 lb guy and I have issues with the box, so how do others manage? I will go back to buying the Tidy Cats litter in the plastic pails until they do something to make the box more manageable!
