Just out of the 30 day return window, the motor on this cat toy gave out. I had seen other reviews warning the same thing happening to other customers. We have three cats ranging from 10 pounds to 15 pounds and this toy could not keep up with them. In my opinion, I don’t know how this company released this particular product without doing some quality control first. They had to have known that there is a strong possibility that their motor cannot keep up with cats that get excited. That is the point. You are trying to stimulate their attention. They destroyed this toy and I am out $40.

Though this is a noisy toy, that didn’t stop my cats from enjoying it — until it stopped working after just 5 weeks. That is past the return date, so it’s going in the trash. Nothing came apart or loose. The motor simply would not start up even with freshly charged batteries. I bought rechargeable batteries as one reviewer suggested, and that worked well in those few weeks.
Really disappointed as cats need good exercise during the snowy months when they aren’t outdoors as much as during warmer months. Guaranteed obsolescence. Guess I’ll need to keep looking for toys to exercise the cats. Does anyone have any good suggestions?
On another note, one irritating feature of this toy is that a screwdriver is needed to open the battery compartment. Really an unnecessary nuisance.

This device has screws on the bottom which you must un-screw in order to install batteries (no batteries are included). The screws are extra small and they are recessed deep inside very small holes. Because they are recessed, it is impossible to unscrew them with a regular size screwdriver. I went out and bought a set of small screwdrivers to remove the screws however this product uses screws with very shallow grooves so none of the screw drivers in the set I bought were able to turn them.

This product should clarify that you need specialized screw drivers in order to install batteries before you can use it. The manufacturer should also indicate what model screwdrivers you need to own in order to use this device because 6+ (now 12+) screwdrivers that I own will not work to install the batteries in this product. And note that you *must* install batteries before this device will work, it does not include an initial set.

Our high energy cat LOVES this toy. He will play with it for hours and it is a great way for him to work out and play until he’s tired. The toy is excellent quality and well made – nothing has broken after hours of rough play other than the wand being chewed, which is to be expected. The batteries will run on the “high speed” setting for about 10 hours. I have bought rechargeable batteries to swap out so we’re not having to buy the disposable ones as often. Also the wand that comes with it can be replaced by the ”

” here on Amazon once the original wand is chewed up by an energetic kitty! I’m so happy with this toy that I bought another as a back-up for the day this one breaks – I may buy two!

The battery not lasting is fine. I can deal with that. But the motor burned out within a month. The cat catches wand, holds onto it, and the motor just doesn’t last. My cats miss it a lot now that it is put of commission, but the price continues to rise and I can’t see continually having to replace it. Very sad but I can’t give this a great review because it doesn’t last and is way too much money for something that doesn’t last. My cats loved it though.

My cats LOVED it while it lasted!

Suddenly stopped working…would only whizz if I manually pushed it…but even then it stopped after a few seconds.

Unfortunately I paid fopr the more expensive one thinking it was better quality, but alas not.

Not recommended. Pity as the cats loved it.

It’s really funny watching my cat interact with this thing. She doesn’t seem all that impressed by it and it’s almost like she doesn’t even want to play with it. The catch is, she seems to get pissed off that this thing dare move in her presence. That of course, forces her to dominate it despite her obvious lack of interest. She easily wins the battle and begins to depart only to find it mocking her as she walks away.

So like a tough guy in a bar, she’ll come right back, just to make it painfully clear that this toy better not move one more time or she’ll absolutely rip it’s feathers off (which amazingly have not happened yet), and boom – she’s kicking it’s a** again. After owning it for a second time, she struts off knowing she’s made everything pretty darn clear… but just a peek… just one little head-turn to look back annnnddddd…. there’s that damn feather taunting her as if she didn’t already have a damn clear discussing about who’s who, and what’s what around here!

Now she’s pissed and sh!t’s going down! She pounces…

It goes on like this for a while. Her favorite is when she just catches glimpses of it around a corner or when she’s on a chair and it’s just below.
It’s truly like she doesn’t actually like the toy, but rather it insults her for even trying to be a toy. It’s weird, but I guess it’s a win.

I got this to distract my cat while I worked from home. First got this and it was great, cat loved it, though it was pretty noisy, it had a timer of about 15 mins before it auto shut off. Eventually it stopped moving much so I figured the batteries ran out. Replaced the batteries but it still doesn’t move the arm and turns itself off too fast. Of course it broke down just after the return window ended. I’ve only had this for a couple of months and it’s already useless. I’d rate the product higher if it lasted longer. Great idea, poor execution. Maybe I just got a faulty one.

    pros:
cat liked it while it worked and distracted her so I could do my work from home.
has a timer and auto stops
    has different speeds
    easy to use
    hands free cat play time

    cons:
    feathers come off easy
    noisy
cannot change time length of auto stop
stopped working after a couple months
    doesn’t come in different designs
have to use a screwdriver to open and replace batteries (difficult for people who have issues with small hand movements)

My cats absolutely LOVE this thing!! This is the second one we have purchased! They used the first one so much the motor stopped working! The only downsides are:
    – this thing goes through batteries LIKE CRAZY!!! If you want it to run properly you have to replace the batteries about once a week.
    – the bottom where the batteries are stored is a stupid design..every time we want to change the batteries I have to get my screwdriver out instead of just being able to “slide” the top off.

Otherwise it’s great! My one cat loves it so much she drags it EVERYWHERE!!! She has even dragged it all the way up a flight of stairs so she can sleep with it. I will probably buy more in the future 🙂
