I have been in process of setting up my laptop with the help of HP Support for 3 days now. When I first opened it and powered up, (after charging), I was given numerous error messages. I am familiar with computers (somewhat) so went to the setting to access the Wi-Fi and found only a couple options and no Wi-Fi. After checking many other things, I knew someone was wrong so called the support number provided. After 2 hours with a very nice lady, still no internet option. She had me run several things to no avail. They were to call me back at a prearranged time later that night – but did not so I called them.
I worked with another support person who said that my computer had no drivers plus other things. I should have probably packed up and sent back but decided to see if he could step me through adding the BIOS, drivers and a lot of other stuff. This was somewhat of a challenge as he had me disconnect the cable from our router to main desktop and put into the laptop. He would not accept when I told him that I did not have that port on the laptop. When I connected it back to my desktop, I had no internet. It took quite awhile but after unplugging several times, it made the connection and I was back in business.
Then I went to the web site as instructed, copy these files to desktop, then save to a USB drive – move that over to my new computer and copied to hard driver. Once this was done, they were installed one by one, etc. etc. etc.
After about 4 hours – and updates still running the person I was working with had to go home and I had to go to bed, plus he said this process would take a long time. It did. When I checked the next morning, it was still running.
Once it finished – I was able to get to the internet and was about to setup printer and do some other things. Still having a few issues and will need to call Support back when I have a few extra hours in my day.
This was a lot of work that I should not have had to do, but I love the screen and the keyboard on this computer and hoping that once it is setup properly, I will not have any issues in the future.

It is disappointing to see HP shipping a product without testing its software setup. The hardware is loaded with good features selling at a good price. I share my fix of the Windows-10 setup.

Problem — Win 10 goes through initial setup, but, fails to continue, it does NOT find a NETWORK device to connect to the internet to continue.

Fix — Find and load the correct NETWORK driver manually.

1- get the PC serial number — hold the ESC key during the boot, it shall force the PC into bios mode, press F1 to see the info screen, copy the serial number. reboot to Win 10

2- Use a working PC with an internet connection. Use Microsoft Edge browser, go to SUPPORT.HP.COM, click on laptop icon, you should see the page asking for the serial number, enter the serial number, you should see the page with all software updates for this model.

3- Download the NETWORK driver, copy to a memory stick, plug into the PC.

4- Open the file manager, run the EXE from the memory stick. It will install the latest NETWORK driver.

5- Reboot the PC, it will continue the setup with downloading/installing many updates.
