Laptop arrived in a box that was not damaged but the laptop has dents and a cracked screen. It also belonged to someone else and this was supposed to be a new computer. Highly dissatisfied.

Purchased this laptop with hopes of it being my primary photo editing computer. It arrived well packaged and the laptop itself is absolutely beautiful. When I turned the laptop on, Cortanas voice came through the speakers telling me how to set up the computer but the screen remained dark. I restarted the computer and the same thing happened again. I followed instructions from the HP website and the guidance of a YouTube video to project the screen onto a secondary monitor, downloaded new BIOS and restarted.this fixed the screen issue for a short time but the next time I turned the computer off and back on I encountered the same dark screen issue. Followed the same steps to try and correct it again but had no luck this time so I chose to return the laptop. I may order a second one and hope for better luck this time around as I was very excited to get this computer but it is certainly disappointing to purchase a brand new laptop only to find it broken/faulty and need to return it the same day. I gave 2 stars in spite of this because for the short time that I had her working, it was really nice. Unfortunately, it isn’t much good to me with a screen that doesn’t work most of the time and considering the information I found online, it doesn’t seem to be a rare instance. If I decide to purchase again and have better results, I will come back and update this review.

I spent a lot of time trying to decide between this and a Dell XPS15 and the Lenovo Yoga 9i with similar specs. I really wanted the Dell but the delivery times didn’t work for me. This seller shipped and delivered the package promptly. I originally did not like the gold/copper bit of the Spectre since I am not a big fan of flashy things, but it’s not overdone and I don’t mind it so much now. It’s a pretty sleek-looking and well-built solid machine. The back-lit keyboard with number pad is a real treat to use. It has a nice response and I actually prefer it over the Macbook Pro. The screen lives up to the hype. It’s simply beautiful. Some of the programs I have downloaded appear really small and I guess it’s got something to do with the high-resolution display. This might be a simple fix but I just haven’t gotten to it yet. Boot up time is super-fast. That you get a stylus pen and a simple leather case is a plus.
While it isn’t as light as I would have hoped, for all that’s packed into this, it isn’t too heavy at all and can be carried around with ease. I mostly do some simple design work and do work with various types of documents and I also use it for surfing and watching videos, movies etc. Haven’t tried it for gaming. I have heard the fan about 4 times since having it (I have it 3 weeks now) and it is noticeably loud and I can’t say I was doing a large number of intensive tasks. But the sound did not last long. It has also gotten a little warm a few times – but not ridiculously so. I have yet to put the machine under real work – but I also doubt I would really use the machine to its fullest potential. I do wish there was one more USB A port just because it would have been convenient for the other devices I need to connect, but I’ve just bought a USB hub so that minor issue should be solved. Besides these, it’s been a pleasure to have this machine.
******IMPORTANT UPDATE**********
My display is fading and there are vertical lines. I’ve updated drivers etc etc and problem persists. It seems that this might be a hardware issue with machine. How extremely inconvenient. Will be contacting HP support to see what my best options are. For such a beautiful machine…this is very upsetting.

I treated this laptop with gloves! and 7 months into having it the screen went dead (same issue I had with another HP Spectre actually). Notice: I never use the touch screen, rarely open/close, really treat this machine with the best care. Unacceptable. Incredibly, this was a replacement unit for another HP laptop I had returned right after purchasing.

Beautiful laptop, but the touchpad DO NOT WORKS!!! For a week I have been on the phone, chats, email, Ect… Nothing!!! If by next week it is not resolve… I will.return it.. Amazon has been really good in helping,, they are ready I.give me my money back…. But HP.. Wow what a bad computer… Not even a day and it was broken.. That is how they will send it…
Update: After weeks talking with HP, the best they can do is a refurbished laptop!!! So I have return it to them…. please be aware of the return policy. Amazon IS THE BEST!!!

When we received this laptop we had a problem with the charging cord and contacted HP,HP asked for the serial number. It was then we discovered 0p⁰ the serial number located on the bottom had been marked out by a sharpie marker prior to our purchasing it. We immediately returned this laptop.
