We have a 55# hound mix and she usually eviscerates and extracts the squeaker in stuffed toys in minutes. Which is fine. BUT then she has zero interest in the unstuffed toys and they end up in the trash. It’s a pretty pricey habit. For some reason though, she loves Gumby. His squeaker is long gone but she didn’t unstuff his body or tear him up like the toys who have gone before him. I think she likes the density of his legs for tossing around and gnawing at gently.
I’m buying another one to have as a backup for when she does finally decide to destroy him. And he’s less than $4. Win – win.

My dog loved Gumby, alas, the affair was short lived. Gumby arrived this afternoon, and in under
an hour he had lost his stuffing, his squeaker and a leg. Or maybe it’s an arm, hard to tell in his current state as a multiple amputee. I know dogs are hard on toys they love, that’s kind of the point, but Mr. Bill (purchased from Amazon a few weeks ago) is still in one piece and my dog loves him too. Granted she ripped his speaker out so he no longer says, “oh no”, but there is a silver lining there. If your dog has teeth, skip Gumby.

When my pug discovered Gumby in the box when it was delivered, he was ecstatic, and could hardly wait for me to get the tags off! He now drags poor Gumby everywhere, and has fallen asleep snuggled against him. Five stars for a Gumby with a frozen smile of terror, and a delighted pug!

    – Gumby is sewn very well, and made to last, unless of course your dog is a fluff-gutting beast, in which case no toy is safe
    – The material Gumby is made of is super soft, an instant favorite, and the squeaker isn’t high-pitched-shriek-from-hell, it is melodious, as if Gumby is communicating in some way, expressing his disapproval at being dragged through all elements and chewed on constantly
    – He’s a great size! Perfect for little paws and jaws to get around
    – Excellent length to be used with your Pug Tail Holder™, much to everyone’s amusement (except Gumby)

    – This order is for one (1) Gumby, and not a truckload

Gumby is a favorite at my house. We own several. I originally bought 2 for my dogs that live with my ex, but my then foster dog, Larkin, found them and fell in love with them. Larkin became a foster failure, and Gumby became a permanent fixture wherever she is. Larkin is a lab, and she has 2 more lab siblings, plus a silky that rules them all. Gumby isn’t built to last. My 2 have because no one touches Larkin’s favorite toy, and she chooses to be gentle with those. He is totally worth the money in my opinion, though. I just bought two more as Christmas gifts.

Update: It is now December 2019. Looking at dog toys for Christmas, I fell back on Gumby. There is no need to buy more. We still have our original 2, plus a few more because those 2 got lost under beds, couches, and the like at one time or another. I imagine when we move we will be in Gumby heaven, but they will all still be blissfully whole (except for that one that lost his arm in a misunderstanding with a foster dog). Reading other reviews, it seems my Larkin is not the only pup transfixed by Gumby. They seem to have quite the Gumby Fan Club. Add him to your favorite pup’s stocking and see if s/he finds the Gumby Magic!

Ok, I admit – I bought this toy for myself… well, sort of… I used to love Gumby as a kid… Saw this and couldn’t pass it up… Clearly, my dog did not share the same affinity for Gumby’s goofy grin as I did… Poor Gumby was promptly eviscerated in under 3 minutes… after which he underwent a brutal serial limb amputation… It was a total of about 6 minutes before Gumby hit the “toy graveyard” ….RIP my friend 🙁

I’m not sure what it is about this toy that my dog just hasn’t contemplated but usually anything with stuffing in our house lasts .5 seconds. My Doberman just loves gutting stuffed animals, yet for whatever reason she hasn’t even given a stray gnaw to this Gumby. She loves playing fetch with him, and knows him by name- but absolutely won’t harm him. Apparently he’s not like all the other stuffies. He’s quite a bit smaller than something I’d regularly seek out for her, (and maybe that’s got something to do with his survival) but he’s still fully intact, and lives another day! So definitely worth mentioning for the price! I expected him to get chewed up ASAP, and tbh I buy toys knowing that and just closely monitor my dog playing and remove them once they’re ‘incapacitated’. So this was pleasant and worth a positive note. Long live Gumby.

I purchased this to replace the Gumby we had for 4 years as it’s arm started to come apart. Our previous one was used by 3 small dogs and a cat. This one is solely for Skunky my cat. He loves to carry Gumby around or play puppet master with it (He sits on it and moves its arms)

    Great purchase!

Cool Gumby stuffy. I did not purchase for a dog, but for as decoration in my home office as I am a Gumby fan. It looks well made and definitely looks like Gumby.

Not for puppies. My 6 month old lab mix puppy really got excited and loved it for the 5 minutes of play she got out of it prior to ripping into one of the eyes and leaving it like the scene of a gruesome murder.

This guy is great for little ones. She loves the small squeaky. I’m sure she’ll have it destroyed in no time like all other toys but for now it’s a great toy. Would recommend.

Ok, best part is the cost for this. Because as you can see, Gumby is not around too long.

By my picture you would think this is a negative review but it’s not. Our terrier/shepherd mix is basically the dog version of Jaws. Nothing survives her after a day, which was when Gumby lost his head and squeaker, but to see after 3 weeks part of him remains is impressive.

This guy is her favorite toy and she still plays and works on total destruction of him.

My next order I’m buying a few of these to have them in hand. I mean come on it’s Gumby!!!

Gumby has been in my home for about two weeks now. My dog grabbed Gumby out of my hand when I took it out of the box and it has become his new favorite toy. Everywhere that he goes in the house, Gumby is hanging out of his mouth. If he is laying down somewhere, Gumby isn’t far away. He treats this toy different than the other ones that I have purchased for him. It’s not a chew toy to him and he doesn’t throw it around. He just holds it in his mouth. All the time. It’s just odd but we are going with it because it seems to make him happy.

I am going to be purchasing a couple of more of these to stash back sometime in the next day or two because if something happens to Gumby, that dog is going to flip his lid.
