It worked!! We had a new treadmill delivered and installed in our basement. Never would I have believed our rescue cat would react so emotionally to it….it was awful! He wouldn’t go anywhere near our stairs, hid and wouldn’t come out from under the bed, clawed and meowed like his life was in imminent danger each time we carried him past the treadmill to the room where he sleeps. Our perfectly stable and healthy cat was experiencing an extreme case of anxiety over the new treadmill installation. The first day of plugging in this product the cat came out from under the bed. Second day he was calmer and more like himself. By the third day he was sitting on the treadmill checking it out for the first time.

I plugged the unit into the outlet right next to the treadmill. Because of other reviews saying that the unit overheats, I did unplug it each night. Very pleased with this product!

Terrible product. Watch the video that tells a thousand words. After I plugged it in, there’s an awful burning smell like plastic burning, and it started smoking. I understand this is a defect of Feliway products. Do not buy unless you know you can easily return because this is a common defect. If I weren’t home I shudder to think what would have happened.

I have just started using Feliway for my very skittish cat, and it seems to be working. I am afraid to leave in my walls overnight or when I am out. I have read all the reviews from people who say it is a fire hazard, as well as one review warning people not to let wick dry out by unplugging it and leaving off too long. That reviewer says it is like leaving a dry pot on stove. I don’t know her electric creds, although I wonder if she is right. There are also many people who have used it without any incident. I have read the literature from Feliway and noticed no disclaimer re fire hazard, which the company would have to protect itself if fire risk. I could find no hits on Google. Could the people who experiencd problems be using the product incorrectly, e.g. not replacing plastic diffuser as frequently as recommended by manufacturer (once every six months), letting liquid in bottle get too low? Unplugging too often so wick dries out? Next time someone posts a “fire hazard” I wish they would provide details on how using it. It would be a huge shame if people were scared away from using a product that is so helpful. For now, I am disassembling and screwing top to the diffuser bottle (which I did not discard) every night, in the hopes that this will help keep the wick moist, speculating that this could be the cause.

    November 7th, 2018.
The pictures scared me too. However, I’ve heard nothing but good things about feliway and I am having issues with integrations involving two male cats so I decided to try it.

I read most of the reviews and the higher-rated one says that as long as you follow directions it shouldn’t be a problem. So I ordered it and received it November 1st and the directions pretty much said “unscrew diffuser, insert diffuser into plug, insert plug into outlet.” Literally, that was it.

Maybe other people have older outlets or funky wiring, I really don’t know but it’s been running for a week straight now and I’ve had zero issues.

I have religiously checked the diffuser everyday and there’s no burning. There’s not even a hint of burning, no melting, nothing.

Perhaps I’m one of the lucky ones or perhaps the company upgraded the diffuser, I’m not really quite sure. I’m just here to say that I’ve had no issues with it and it’s working like it’s supposed to be.

I bought this because my vet recommended it for my 17yr old bengal cat’s yowling and sudden spraying problem. Yes, had full bloodwork & checkup and it’s just her getting old. I was prepared to have her euthanized due to the severity of her issues. My vet knows how much I love my girl (I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old!!) and highly suggested that I try this diffuser before euthanasia…
Ok. Honestly I didn’t expect it to work, but it did… And within a half hour too!!! She was yowling when I walked in from work. I plugged it in, she walked up to it and within minutes she completely stopped meowing and just got extremely lovable for about an hour, and has been sleeping since. AWESOME!!
So here’s the problem… I was wowed by the effectiveness so I immediately got online to order more when I started reading reviews. Now I am absolutely TERRIFIED that this thing is going to end up burning my house down! I’ve been reading lots of people saying that the plugins are melting and starting on fire!! If this company knows if this problem, and it’s been happening for quite some time, why on Earth haven’t they fixed the issue??? There are so many different diffusers on the market today, why haven’t they come up with a way to just sell the oil by itself to use in our own diffusers that do not have a fire hazzard issue?? This is a very serious matter and needs to be corrected asap! I cannot risk the safety of my family to save my cat’s life… And that is horrible that anyone should even have to worry like this about a wall plug-in….

I’m a fan! This helped with a crazy cat we had in the past, and it’s working now on our sensitive, shy kitty. He is much more affectionate and calm. I will say though, be sure to really change it every 30 days! I waited a few days, thinking it was no big deal, and there was a small burn mark in the wick. It makes sense, if the wick can’t suck up any more liquid and it will start to burn. I wouldn’t say it’s a safety hazzard if used properly- so use it according to their regulations! It’s like letting a pot of water boil dry- you’re going to burn your pot!

Bought from Amazon in Jun 2017. Plugged in while on vacation and it worked fine after about 48 hours of warm-up time. My cat was calm while I was gone on vacation. I then unplugged, took the refill out and put it away for later use.
In prep for another vacation I plugged it in again, and after 1-2 hours it started to smell like an electrical burn. I immediately unplugged, but unit still smells like burn.
I contacted CEVA, gave them Lot #s for diffuser and refill. But when they found out I bought it from Amazon they told me to get reimbursed/replacement from Amazon. They gave me a case #, but they don’t stand behind their products if purchased from Amazon.
