over all it is pretty good so far. Where the tape comes out of the cartridge is a u shape so tends to twist/bunch up. Sometimes you have to fiddle with the lock/unlock mechanism because tape will not release. Where you put your fingers through the handle needs to be a lot wider. If you have larger hands or wearing gloves it will be harder to hold.

Kinda heavy, didn’t realize that for my little pooch but love the length, 26 ft is awesome and it’s not cheaply put together, it will definitely last. The one thing I don’t like but will get over, is the lock…you can’t press the button to temporarily hold the pooch in one place it automatically locks it and if they are tugging you can’t just press the button to release its a bit of a pain in the butt….a quick lock button would be ideal on top of the permanent lock, something to think about

I’m sad to say this is my first time writing a review because the item I bought was so disappointing. I was trying to replace my Flexi leach I had for more years than I can remember..not because it was broken but because I have a new fur baby and wanted 2 be sure he would be safe on his leach but was trying to save a few dollars….So for starters this leach is weighted very weird and uncomfortable. The most of its weight is straight out in front of your hand,, not somewhat below it as I am accustomed to. I was ready to overlook that and was trying to get used to it in my back yard before taking pooch down the road with cars flying by. Absolutely dont know what’s the deal with the lock mechanism. I have been used to push and stop.. release and go…OR continues lock at a desired length. I just could not get this leash to cooperate with what I wanted it to do. It locks no problem but I could not just use the stop break for a quick stop…its seems like lock or unlock is it. And it was hard to unlock to recoil and get the pooch closer quick enough for my comfort.
I suggest a different brand. I have noticed the Tug brand is actually less that this one and is superior in its ability to keep your dog safe if you need a well working lick mechanism

The leash is ok not sure if I would buy another one again. It tangles alot and the lock and unlock is tricky. Love the length and the handle.

So far everything’s looking great with this. I wanted a longer leash because I like to let my pup wander a bit when it’s safe.

26 feet is perfect. I’d take a super super long one but I know I’m in the minority.

Button and lock work backwards compared to my old leash but that’s not the products fault. As far as I can tell, it works just fine.

Build quality feels solid and more securely put together than others I have tried.

    Good Value

This is a very comfortable lesh to use, especially for those of us that have arthritic hands. It is lighter in weight compared to other ones purchased. My dog is approx 70lbs and it seems to be working very well.

Like the length. Control mechanism is somewhat a pain, inconsistent in operation. Heavier than most reatractables. If the dog goes to far too one side or the other leash can twist and wont retract.

The lock feature keeps locking and it is difficult to unlock so the dog gets away while you are trying get the lock to release and pull back the leash.
Would like to return retractable leash.

This was my first time using a retractable leash. I thought it was fairly easy to use. The button was easy to press and release.
I did think the quality of the leash material was lacking. It feels thin and cheap, even compared to a pet store brand dog collar. I’m not sure how it’s supposed to hold a 100lb dog. I wouldn’t trust it to hold my 60lb German Shepherd puppy if he was determined enough to get at something.

My 8 month old puppy has been leashed trained and does not normally bite at or chew on his leash. But as we were walking with it extended, it fluttered in the wind and caught his attention, being something new, it of course went in his mouth. I took it out of his mouth right away, but you can see in the picture, just those w seconds were enough to leave marks on it.

If you have a smaller dog, who absolutely won’t bite the leash this will probably work out great for you. But if you’re looking for something durable, or for a big dog, this probably isn’t it.

I bought this item to save a few bucks – and returned it in less than a month.

I used the item every day with our 42 pound mutt. In that time it now retracts slowly, and does not fully retract any longer. I live in SoCal – its never gotten wet [since its hasn’t rained] so its not my fault. The dog is very active and runs back and forth but doesn’t usually pull.

The retraction mechanism is whack – you can’t engage the stop without engaging the lock – forcing you to make an effort to unlock it – and now the unlock is stiff and does not work properly.

Overall – its poorly designed and seems of poor quality. Just buy the Flexi – I had one last 6 years with a 75# Labrador – they are tough.

I bought this one to replace the one my dog had been using for the past 10 years. When I got this one in the mail my first thought was “holy cow this thing is light…”, the locking mechanism just straight sucks. It doesn’t stay locked on the times I can actually get it to lock. It takes forever to wind back in, most of the time leaving a foot to 2 feet hanging out of the leash. I ended up going to Walmart and spending $13 (this one was $17 and change) and got a nice, sturdy leash that looks like it will last him another 10 years (hopefully!).

We live in an adult community without a fenced in yard. Although we walk our 55 lb German Shepard mix rescue regularly, sometimes he just needs a quick trip in the backyard to relieve himself 😉 We are able to stand in our sliding glass doorway and he has 26 feet of leash to go outside. This is especially helpful late at night , or in the middle of the night , when a walk isn’t feasible. Also works well in cold, icy or rainy weather , when it’s difficult to go for long walks but our guy still needs to get out. I highly recommend this leash for that purpose . It solved our problem.

Definitely a stronger spring than others. I’ve never had good luck with retractable leashes and this one is great. I don’t want the kids using it just because they don’t always pay attention to it staying flat while its retracting but so far no problems after a few weeks of constant use. It gives you an off leash feeling with the length capability and my catahoula appreciates not having to be on heel 24/7 in the city. Play and excersise should be long leads or free range. He isn’t quite tamed enough for free range so this is a godsend!
