At $579.99 for the AN515-54-5812 it’s A REAL DEAL!!! Since the unboxing I have liked it’s features and performance… It can be upgraded in storage and RAM. I will recommend this machine to my friends and family.

Parents bought this for my sister and this is perfect for her to start on it’s good for light-medium gaming. With school converting to online it’s perfect as well. This computer also has good battery life away from the charger while might use with heavy use not so much it’s good though. Overall the computer is good for it’s current price and an amazing deal.

The 1 star is for the poor quality control by Acer.
I received the laptop and immediately started to set it up. Upon entering my info I noticed that the D key was not working. I put in a call to Acer tech support and have to send the laptop in to get repaired… the brand new out of the box product. Now I have to repackage everything, wait for a shipping label, drop it off and wait 7-10 business days (fancy wording for two weeks) instead of working on projects that I bought the laptop for. So at this point I am very disappointed in Acer’s quality control.
I can’t really review the laptop itself since it was defective from the start. I’m hoping that is the only issue with the machine as most reviews I’ve read about the Nitro 5 are positive.
Update: It has been 22 days since I received the brand new laptop from Amazon. Acer repair has had the laptop for 14 days now and I still have not received any info about the status of my case other than it is still being repaired. I am not happy about having to wait 3+ weeks to have a brand new working laptop.

I get it…some people hate WoW, lol but it’s the game I play and I’ve always wanted to play it with the highest settings and now I can, without my laptop shutting off because it gets too hot.
I’m also amazed that I can play wow and also minimize it while scrolling for recipes, fb etc without things freezing or extreme lag. This is the first gaming laptop I’ve ever had, so maybe my expectations are low to begin with but I really love it. The only thing I worry about is the charger. It’s gets pretty hot. Maybe someone can answer that question for me about the heat. I also don’t like that I can’t choose to have the red backlight for the keyboard on without it shutting off. Other than those two things, I love this laptop. Seems like a beast so far lol

I included potential solutions to the problems I had in the cons section.
Pros:
-slim size, easy to take on the go
-cheap
-open slots inside to upgrade components
Cons (that I found solutions to):
-loud fans, combined with poor audio quality. The built in speaker volume needs to be turned up pretty high to hear over the fan noise. The fan noise also means you should leave your mic on push to talk rather than open during online games, otherwise your poor teammates will have to listen to it constantly. Good news is there is blue tooth, so I suggest connecting external speakers or headphones instead.
-hot CPU. Make sure your battery settings are on “better performance” rather than “best performance”, regardless of if it’s plugged in or not. Otherwise, the CPU hits 90 C. Better to have less performance or learn to undervolt if you want the laptop to last very long.
-wrong GPU used during gaming. If you have really bad performance, it could be that the laptop is using the Intel GPU rather than the GTX 1650. Go into NVIDIA Control Panel, and under “manage 3D settings” and “global settings”, switch preferred graphics processor to “high-performance NVIDIA processor” rather than auto.
-laptop suddenly restarts within seconds of booting up, when not plugged into power. For me, going into startup apps and turning off “Delayed Launcher” fixed this.
-not enough space, and plenty of bloatware to make it worse. Definitely invest in at least 1TB of additional storage. 256 GB is only enough space for two or three games, unless you only play games from the 90’s.
Cons (without solutions I could find):
-yellowish smudges at the top of the screen, only visible though when the screen is black
-the touch pad is terrible. It’s on the left for some reason, so both your hands have to be crammed left to use them during games. Not an issue if you use controllers or a mouse. Also, the mouse is very delayed and floats around. Tried updating drivers but nothing works, it’s super laggy most of the time!
-keyboard lights only turn on when a key is pressed and automatically turn off after 30 seconds. There is no way to leave them on, which sucks when you’re using it in the dark. There are forums complaining about this, and the company refuses to add the feature to leave them on even though many people are requesting the option.
-short battery life. This doesn’t bother me because I view gaming laptops more like transportable desktops, but keep in mind that this will not last you very long if you want to play on the bus or plane.

De verdad que esta computadora me ha soprendido, anteriormente tenia una laptop Thunderobot con una RTX 3060 comprada en Ali la cual la vendi por que alguien me la quiso comprar y entonces al andar buscando otra laptop me tope con esta la cual la recomendaban en una pagina de expertos en gaming, el dia que la compra estaba en 19,999 , dije bueno ok , 12 mil menos que la computadora anterior , voy a darme la oportunidad de comprarla al cabo que Amazon acepta devoluciones, total que me llego en 9 dias, inmediatamente la destape ya que averigue que no pierdes la garantia al hacer lo, le aumente la memoria RAM para que dar en 16GB, le coloque un NVMe Samsung 970 evo plus de 1TB, y un disco mecanico 2.5 Sata de 1 Tb, ya con todo listo y funcionando , instale sniper elite 4, dead stranding, control, wolfenstein young blood, microsofot flight simulator 2021,Forza Horizon 4, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts, Halo Master Chief, A Plague Tale Innocence, Ori and the Will of the Wisps,Doom Eternal,NBA 2K Play Grounds entre otros , de todos estos juegos el unico que me dio Lag fue el forza Horizon 4, pero todos los demas los he jugado sin problema alguno, sinceramente recomiendo esta computadora, si quieres mayor potencia, te aconsejo que te armes una de escritorio con una rtx 3070 como minimo, porque entre esta laptop y una rtx 3060 no vi mucha diferencia en los juegos. lo unico malo que el precio se ha elevado bastante, al momento que estoy escribiendo esta reseña ya va en 27 y fraccion, ojala la vuelvan a bajar o la puedan encontrar en otra en mejor precio.

Muy buena laptop, para jugar está increíble, quizá no tiene tanta memoria pero se puede expandir. Lo único “malo” fue que me tardo 1mes en llegar, parecía de Ali expréss Haha, 15 días en confirmar y 15 en llegar aún habiendo pagado priority.
La seguiré usando y más adelante veré si actualizo mi comentario.

Es una muy buena laptop, fácil de upgradear, una pantalla que si da los 144 Hz, un procesador muy decente y la tarjeta gráfica tiene lo suyo, a pesar de ser de 4 GB, corre el CoD Warzone a 80 fps con todo alto
Aún me falta probarlo con más juegos, pero Minecraft, Left 4 Dead, rocket league, da todo a más de 100 fps estables
Solamente es recomendable invertir en más memoria (Tiene slot para una SSD y un HDD) y otra memoria ram (máximo 32 GB en ambos slots)
Si vas iniciando, es una muy buena opción, no es pesada, es bonita y solamente le echaría en falta la entrada para micrófono, de ahí en fuera todo bien
